Apple Computers moving on from Intel Core i5 and i7?

honestly I don't even know what that means, I was about to purchase a mac book pro and my friend told me that he heard apple was coming out with their own Intel series or something and that I should wait a few months? Anyone know what I'm talking about, and anyone know if I should wait a few months? thanks!
